It’s not what happens to you that’s most important. It’s who you become because of it.
Everyone faces adversity in life. We all go through hardships as people – and as leaders. Challenging times, traumatic experiences, and tough times happen to us all. What happens to us in life is not what’s most important. What’s most important is how we respond to what happens to us. Will we become stronger and more resilient? Will we be able to learn the lesson? Will we grow through the experience or simply go through the experience?
Resilience is the difference between “I didn’t die,” and “I learned to live again.” It’s a trait we can develop, becoming more proactive and experiencing “Post Traumatic Growth.”
“What could have broken me made me.” Bob Chapman
Resilience is realizing our circumstances don’t define us because we always have the freedom to choose our mindset, attitude, and outlook.
We cannot effectively overcome something we are not willing to face. Resilience is learning to build a bridge out of the past instead of building a wall around it. Certainly what happens to us in life influences us, but how it influences us determines if it defines us and holds us back or refines us into someone stronger than what hurt us.
Based on her TEDx talk, in this program Ria teaches practical strategies for overcoming adversity and becoming more resilient. Discover Ria’s four steps to building a bridge out of the past and into the future and learn how to:
-
Cross from pain to purpose
-
Cross from fear to freedom
-
Cross from guilt to growth
